My wife cleans the lady’s house we got it from. So I’m sure it’s not stolen. But u really never know about a person. But I don’t think it is. She supposed to be checking in on it. She bought a new one and said she don’t remember getting a title for it either. So she is going to check on both of them.
If she cant find the title for the one she gave you, I know in my state(WV) we are able to file for a lost/duplicate title. I'm sure if my state offers that any state does lol. If yours does, have her file for one and then she'll recieve a title then have her sign it over to you and then get it transferred at your local DMV.

The title requirement varies from state to state, here in AL or GA it's not required, bought both of my skis without a title in GA then registered in AL. When it gets registered, if it was reported stolen it'll get flagged when you go to register. They'll contact the owner that reported it and you lose the ski and they could go back to that person that sold it to you. I make all this clear when I'm buying it and the title is 'misplaced'. It's pretty common in non title states to not have a title. In AL we're not even required to register a trailer, they exchange hands like buying used furniture.
If you can't get a title, and the state requires it, just go through the steps and get one, usually less than $50 in most states. If she can't find it and you need it, negotiate another $50 off the price.
