Looks like the ground to the rear ebox?

Correct. I'm sure they're short in general, but it's always been so short it's tight on the battery. Looks like it has been trimmed before.

Definitely plan to heat shrink the connector. I try not to half ass stuff if I can get around it.

Guess I should have clarified I knew where it went, but is it a replaceable item. Meaning is it just a ground cable bolted in the rear ebox or something and I can replace it with a better heat shrinked cable.

I guess you can unpin it from the plug and replace, but if it's long enough to reach the battery just put a better end on it if that's the concern.

If I trim it back to replace the connector one more time it won't reach the battery anymore.

Just trim it back and solder an extension on it, then solder a new ring terminal on it and shrink tube all the joints you just soldered.

If you don't hook it up your ski won't do anything, it can't start without it.

Easy enough. No worries I wasn't planning on trying to not hook it up, just wanted to get it cleaned up while I had time during the off season.

x2.. I've had to do that a couple times in the past. I just got a new soldering iron so hopefully I'll have some projects to use it on this winter :)

So I finally got some time to finally work on the ski. Soldered in a longer cable, put a new terminal on, and put heat shrink tubing on. Also finished putting the gauge on and started the ski. No warning lights illuminated and ran fine as far as I could tell, just smoked out the neighbors with the fogging oil in there. HAH!

So I can fully put this to bed. Figured I'd update this after the forum meet. I rode it all weekend with no issues. No warning lights illuminated and the gauges turned off just fine. So looks like a bad multi gauge from me being an idiot and hooking up the key when hooked to a trickle charger.
