Ok guys got a question, my new straps on the front of my trailer just have the hook. Any ideas so i dont have to put the hook on the ski?

They sell a strap you loop through to use hook.

Can't find it off hand through google but Ill page @racerxxx or @Minnetonka4me will get you one.

Edit: Found it.

Its old thread but @Spimothy Leary may still have them

The ones that you have linked are good for 400 pounds "Working load" and a 1200 pound breaking limit. I think you will be fine as you will not be using them to hang things from. So, your load is less UNTIL,,,, something happens such as a fender bender. Even then, they would likely hold at the load would already be in place, not suddenly like if the ties were loose and the ski was sliding for example.

I have what Racerxxx has pictured. They work fantastic. No metal hook to harm the ski and nice and secure..

My trailer has the same as racer posted and that strap is no stronger than looping the soft ties through. It will be fine either way.

I am sold out on the tow loops. But I use the hook for mine. the straps came in handy for me when my hook was to small

You sure that loop is rated for the weight? I always thought they were meant for pulling the strap. Not weight bearing.

If you are referring to the loop on the winch strap, yes, it is designed to hold the ski. It is normally rated at around 1200 pounds or so.

yes, I just dragged a ski off a trailer to the stand using that very loop on my wall winch, and trailer was kind of sloped up hill, so i'm dragging dead weight. And this is about the 20th time i've done that, 2 strokes, 4 strokes, i don't hesitate.

they definitely are strong enough.

to the OP, FWIW, my ski is in mint shape, and i've been using the hook since day one, if there's a scratch on the hook I haven't noticed, and I wouldn't care, absolutely nobody looks at that, ever. the only stuff I ever notice on other peoples ski's is scuffed up hoods from getting under the dock.
