Throttle Shaft Leak?

I've had a bad mid-range bog in my 97SPX. Someone mentioned to me that it could be my worn out carburetors. After getting another XP, I noticed that the throttle shafts on that one are a lot tighter and don't move around like in the SPX. My question is, is there a way I can fix just the throttle shaft and not have to buy two $200 carbs? Is there a bushing I can replace, or maybe even get new/oversized throttle shafts?

Some of the carbs have an outer seal... but on the 38 SBN carbs... I don't think there was.

The easiest thing to do is to add a Teflon washer to the ends of the shaft, to help hold the shaft, and to seal the ends. A blob of waterproof grease on the shaft, and behind the new washers will help seal it up.

Sorry. Yes you do. I was thinking 720, but the 97 SPX is an 800.

Same thing applies.

My shaft tends to leak if the womans bikini is on the smaller side....but that is just me.... :Angel::cheers:

Recently bought a 95XP 800. It came with relatively clean carbs, and solid throttle shaft bushings. Only thing is they had the venturi's shaved off... yea, don't ask... BUT I put them on the SPX and guess what? NO MORE BOGGING. On the trailer at least, need to conduct some water tests this weekend. BTW, I rebuilt those carbs, and have since taken them back apart to verify that nothing was weird inside (including checking the transition ports and the High Speed check valve).
