Is there a way to adjust the tension of the throttle lever when it is is Forward? Seems like mine has too much tension on the lever.

yes. if you unscrew the 4 screws holding down your shift lever assembly, on the side (after you pull the assembly out) you should see a screw (might be plastic) you can loosen it and adjust it that way. its pretty easy. hope this helps.

Thanks, Ill try it...

mine are too loose

lifted cover and tried to tighten the plastic screws on each side. screwed in until seeming to bottom out, but throttle lever still floppy. is there an insert to allow additional tightening?

There is a spring that is inside the plastic screw set. I cannot get the port trottle on my 97 challenger to tighten. I believe there must be a shim after the spring that is frozen that will not seat against the trottle level which is why my port trottle will not hold position. I am looking for a solution to this as well.

Hi,

I'm having the same problem with the port throttle lever on my '97 Challenger. Did you ever get a fix to yours??

Thanks,

Joel

Not sure if boats are the same. My 98 has 2 screws. The right engine screw is obvious. The left engine screw is farther in. A Phillips head. Tucked way in.

I have this same problem with my port side throttle lever and planned on fixing it this after noon. Hope I fix it. Some one take some pictures.

This is a great question as I was wondering the same thing....please let me add an additional question; Is there also a tightening screw for the gear lever? I believe I have to tighten my gear lever because when I engage it forward, I have to actually use a hand to push and hold it all the way forward to release the lock on the throttles, and then while holding the gear lever forward, use my other hand to move both throttle levers forward. Does that make sense? Would tightening this cable (if possible) relieve me from having to do this?

Yes there is a seperate screw for that, check it out in the shop manual if you have it. I found what I was looking for a couple of days ago.
