Throttle issue 96 Speedster

My 96 speedster has issue with port throttle. To start the boat needs to be advanced about an inch. When pulling back to idle after running port engine dies unless left partially open. Also when running on plane at 4-4500 RPM that port throttle is advanced 3/4 to 1 inch forward of the starboard throttle. I'm no mechanic but seems like this should be a simple cable adjustment? Any advice on how to balance the throttles to operate in sync?

If you get an answer to this issue please let me know. I'm having a similar issue with my 97 Speedster starboard engine. I've been searching for a video on adjusting the throttle cables, but so far have come up empty.

I found this post. How to adjust throttle cable 97 Sportster??

I'll check and adjust mine Saturday and see if it helps with the issue. If it doesn't, then I'll have to learn how to adjust the carb. That is not a project that I'm looking forward to.
