Thoughts on these RAVE valves

I bought these valves used, are they good or too damaged to use. The first one has a lot of scratches on the sides and is worn down a bit.

Those look okay to me... maybe a little cleanup with brass brush... I have 2001 XP951... if you went overbore, make sure the raves are trimmed to allow for overbore, otherwise they will strike the piston....

I assume these are not a perfect seal so a little wear will not effect the performance of the valves as long as they are clean and move freely, correct?

Not a completely perfect seal, no. But there are nitrile O-rings around the shaft above and below wear the cap screws on. Along with another plastic piece to keep the gases sealed. Sometimes there can be chafing on the blades or chattering, so you have to make sure and smooth that so that they slide nicely.
