The Damage...

Doc, if I would have known you would be willing to work on it, i would have paid whatever you wanted because I know it would be done PERFECT. Crap.

I called them a couple days ago. The guy said that the cylinders are bored, the raves are shaved, and he's just waiting on a crank to come so he can put it back together.

He said that the crank is delayed because there's a parts shortage due to the quake in Japan, and mentioned that the Mikuni plant was destroyed because he can't get carbs for another customer, and said that the place that makes the cranks might be affected. But I'm almost positive he told me on the phone (before i took it in) that they use Hot Rods cranks.... and i checked the website and it says "in stock" for my engine's crank  "it might be a week, it might be a month or more, i can't say". So much for boating this summer.

I'm going to be interested to see the cost break down on all this after its done. It looks like for parts it would be 600 for crank, 400 for RAVEs (a set for each engine since i messed up the other ones), 200 for a piston kit, 50 for misc parts and gaskets (shouldn't be more, considering i gave him rave and head gasket kits to use since i had them ready to do the work myself).... so maybe 1300 or so for everything? So over a grand of that 2300 quote would be labor? Ughhhhhhhhh............

wow... sorry to hear that bro. but at least it sounds like you won't have any problems again, they're covering pretty much all the bases :)

Yep... that sux. Well... hopefully, you will have a good running boat once it's done.

You taking the skis out this weekend? (I still have to get that inflatable to you)

I actually sold both of the ski's in hopes of buying a new RXT-X... but then I found out that I have to start traveling for work (England next week, then a trip to Stockholm Sweden, then a trip to Berlin Germany) plus a family vacation to cali in August... so I figured I would hold off.

Plus I counted the number of weekends where I am able to go boating and its under 5 (including September)... and that's assuming Pittsburgh Watercraft gets my boat back to me soon (which I doubt). Very depressing. This summer certainly didn't plan out like I had hoped.

Oh well. Hopefully i will be able to get out the first or second weekend of August, assuming my boat is back. I will definitely keep you posted, i am looking forward to finally getting out on the river with ya
