I just got my xp running again , on trailer seems good, but in water it seemed to make a new noise like the 720 motor was revving up but not really going anywhere very fast but after it took off it would run really fast but if you turned it off it wouldn’t want to restart so you would have to jump it and it would take off again but then I noticed it was taking on water and it was getting up to the bottom of the motor so it finally quit working from trying to jump it acted like it had a dead battery as soon as I got home I took the spark plugs out ,battery worked fine on the trailer so I turned the motor over and water started shooting out the exhaust put the spark plugs back in after a couple tries and then started running fine so I have a leak of some sort ,I’m thinking I have water in my exhaust and there was a small sign of water on the spak plugs,Any suggestions on how the water is getting in the motor an or filling up the hull?

Pull the head , the water jackets are either full of sand or you need all new o-rings on the head and head cover.

Ok awesome...i just put new carburetor rebuild On it thinking that was my problem before.and when i did,I spread starter fuild in the open manifold and it fired up,BUT i seen liquid swirling up to the top or the back port and wasn’t sure what to think at the time because im new to seadoos and how they work...but do all my own work...but now im sure that was water and its water cooled so i am guessing it’s leaking out of the motor and filling up my hull... Thank you for the help and any more thoughts...!!!!

How much water did you have in your hull ? If it was a lot then there’s where the water got in your motor.

Water in the hull is either coming in from the Welch plugs leaking or the through hull fitting where your driveshaft comes in. The Welch plugs are the circles on your exhaust. Back it in the water on the trailer and start it up with the seat off and look for your leak.

Remember when you run it on the hose . Engine on, then turn water on, then turn water off , then turn engine off. Never have water running through it when it’s not running.

It was up to the bottom of motor or a little more but also when you would excel rate from take off the motor would rather high but a strange noise towards the rear and sounded like as if Seiyu car transmission not connecting I wouldn’t go anywhere fast very slow take off Exceller ration But once it did fall throttle it would run really fast acted like a car with a bad transmission or something

Another thought I did have it towed in with my other Jetski a couple of times and I thought I read somewhere that you’re supposed to clamp off a water line hose somewhere that it was hard on them when its mot running?? maybe that’s how the water got in some way and got into the motor I’m not sure some water line hose off maybe all I know is when I got it back to land on the trailer when I went to turn it over a lot of water shot out the exhaust and I took the spark plugs out and crank it over and put them back in and then it fired up and the battery acted perfectly fine out of water another thought I did have it towed back in and I think I read somewhere that it was hard on him when you told a minute and you’re supposed to clamp some water line hose off maybe that’s how the water got in the motor all I know is when I got back to land on the trailer when I went to turn it over a lot of water shot out the exhaust and I took the spark plugs out and crank it over and put them back in and then it fired up and the battery acted perfectly fine out of water hummm

The water jackets look clear as far as I can tell. I’m on my phone so I can’t see them that good. The slipping is your wear ring. Look underneath through the intake grate with a flashlight at your wear ring. The leak is your biggest problem. Sounds like u have 2 issues. Yes if you tow it you should’ve clamped off the cooling line coming into your motor.. put the head back on. Pull the pump. Replace the wear ring. Did u see any water spraying inside the hull when u ran it on the hose? If not it’s coming in your driveshaft boot. The driveshaft has a bearing in the boot. Make sure it’s not locked up.
