Hello again. Busy weekend. I'm planning to install a OEM tach on my 97 XP. I have a 2" (approx) Seadoo tach to fill the empty space on my display. I know I can pigtail the power/ground... but where can I receive signal without messing with the MPEM? I have yet to see anything definitive in the forum(s). Thanks.

Looking at my wiring diagram, I'm wondering if the YL/WH wire in the magneto plug would do the trick? Can anyone confirm?

I know that I can get signal at the MPEM on connector 1, plug 2... but really don't want to go to that trouble, being as it is inconveniently located in the nose of the ski.

I'd have to look but I believe that is the pulse signal from the pick up. Only problem I see there is that you want a clean signal to the MPEM. Look at the wiring diagram on the 1996 GTX.

Check to see if you have a tan/black wire or gray wire coming off the MPEM. Both those run to the tach on the 1996GTX. Looks more like the gray wire I can''t see it very well on the diagram.

I'll let you know. My stator plug has 3 yellow that trace to the rectifier. I have wired into one, am waiting on a 20k ohm resistor to tie in... the rest I've already wired in.

The Black/Yellow and Yellow/White are the two that come off the pick up. The pick up, not the mag coil are what you want to use. still.... I'd rather have a clean signal to the mpem and CDI but that's your call. It could affect performance.
