Switching Oil. A premix question

I know there are a ton of debates and threads about oils on here and I looked through a bunch but I still want to ask...

I just bought a used 99 gtx ltd with the carb's 951 engine and it currently has Amsoil hp marine oil in the oil pump and small amount of premixed gas in the tank for premix to make sure if oil pump fails it won't ruin the engine.

I just bought a jug of seadoo XPS full synthetic 2 stroke oil to use from now on.

I was wondering if I would need to completely drain the oil pump, clean all the lines out, drain the gas tank, clean all fuel lines and rave valves, etc. just to switch over to the seadoo oil or would I just be ok with siphoning out as much of the gas and oil as I can and then refilling it with the seadoo oil?

I know some people say it can possibly gunk up if you mix oils. Would it gunk up if I siphon out everything I can or is that not good enough?

Im alright with engines, no mechanic by any means. I just want to know if anyone knows anything in regards to this situation.

Any help is much appreciated.

You need to drain it all out, that is not really compatible with other 2 stroke oils unless it is tc-w3, just take the hose off the bottom of the oil pump and drain the tank then take the lines off the manifold and prime it till the new oil starts to flow out.
I would not worry about draining the gas out, just keep adding fresh until it is diluted out. Make sure no air bubbles in the lines before you take it for a spin though.

Say no to removing the factory oil injection system.

It is quite reliable, ive never had an oil pump fail. I like the factory system, it sips oil, and never has a problem. Only thing yah gotta do is keep oil in the oil tank, and replace the small oil feed lines. Make sure the oil tank grommets for the larger lines are leaking and you're good to go.

To replace the small lines, use Tygon fuel line for lawnmowers/chainsaws/small engines. I bought 50ft. off ebay years back and use it on each and every ski I get. Its 3/32" size and fits perfect.

For the initial run of the engine post oil line replacement I do premix the fuel/oil so that the engine still has lubrication while the little oil lines are filling with oil from the tank from being replaced. Or you can pull spark plugs, shut fuel valve off, ground spark plug wires, hold oil pump open all the way manually by hand and watch the lines fill up as you spin the engine over.

as above RE stock oil pump, the only thing to add to that really is make sure you replace the inline filter on the oil line every season, its an easy one to overlook and can end up starving the engine of lube! besides that the only weak link in the chain so to speak is the oil injection nipples/valves they use a ball bearing system to control the flow if a bit of grit or something jams up those up you can end up running the engine "dry" and you won't know until it seizes and since they are on the inlet manifold, they aren't in a place you could check regularly

You should check...

Oil in the tank (no brainer)
Filter and lines are free of blockages/crap
Cable isn't frayed or corroded either at PTO carb or oil pump
Oil pump is aligned correctly

You will probably need a mirror to check alignment and the cable PTO carb side

Most of what I just said echoes what others have said, as for oil choice, I wouldn't mix them for what it costs you may as drain it down and use fresh oil

I'm not going to remove the oil pump or anything, just premix the gas as well as use the oil pump to avoid running the engine dry.

I'm just wondering whether it will be ok to siphon or drain the oil tank dry and if it will be ok to then switch oils or do I have to clean everything after I drain it.

There is no reason to premix and run oil injection. The only thing you will be doing is wasting performance and money.

To answer your other question siphon as much oil as you can out of the tank then install a new oil filter and drain the rest of the large oil line to the pump when you have the filter off. Now you can refill the tank with the seadoo brand oil and open the bleed screw on the pump until all the air is out and fresh oil comes out. The small lines will pump the old oil out on their own while you have the ski idling and the oil pump lever held open with your finger.

Engine wont run well, will be having too much oil in engine and plugs will start fouling if you do both.
