Summers Over - Now What

Sounds like torture... and btw, you KNOW when season is ending, because I REMEMBER squirrel sending out this depressing "winter's over" thread a few years back. lol
He's like the proverbial groundhog for summer's end...when this thread comes out, you know he's packing it up for the year

just think of me in January....

I hate your soul.

lol

Gotta stash the nuts for winter ;)

I need a winter project, so I'm fixing up my generator...

it idles poorly unless you give it some choke, then it's all smooth

I did new plugs, new fuel filter, fresh fuel, and thanks to eBay have new air filters on their way.

But, I have a hunch I'll find the issue in the carb(s).

It's a V twin, so I assume it's dual carb, but I can only see one without taking the top off... But Maybe twin carb is only something you do when squeezing 130HP from 947cc

My biggers concern is taking it apart, then waiting for parts... and THEN the damn power goes out.... RIGHT?!

I pulled the center support bearing from my 2000 XP last night.

it actually wasn't that hard. I went to grease it over the summer and the seal just slid right out! I said... well, I can either fix it or wait till winter.

i waited, no issues. It actually looks like I could just replace the seal, but I ordered a whole new assembly from OSD... whatever

Also found where my 'extra' jet pump seal came from.. lol THIS ski. No wonder my buddy beat me on take off from idle.

I still had a higher top end though!

Also, I may pull the carbs as even though I cleaned them out, and couldn't find any issues, it bogs on launch... maybe the fuel pump.

or i could throw new ones on it, but that seems like over kill... what to do what to do.

with so much free time?!

Ohh I know... I need 1,700 sq ft of drywall!

who wants to hang drywall on a 15' ceiling with me?! c'mon it will be fun.

Also, I have no ladder.

I do actually have a ladder, but when I drywall it, won't be able to support the ladder from the ground to change light bulbs... hmmm

Guess I need a lift or something? Let's hope I don't have to change light bulbs!

I was out on my SPX last night, trying to run the gas out so I don't have to siphon anything this winter, when I pull the tanks/lines, and rebuild the carbs. I think it was 68° when I came in. I'm going to winterize it either tonight or Saturday. It's supposed to be around 78° on Saturday, so the XP is going out. :driving:

Drywall???

Ummm....Squirrel...Drywall....don't MENTION the word drywall to me!!! Paid a guy big bucks to redo drywall, get rid of the popcorn, and give a smooth flat ceiling...didn't turn out as planned, so I had him come back to do skip trowel.....STILL did a shoddy job...needless to say, if you want something done, you gotta do it yourself! no matter what you look like when you're done!
P.S., this was after using a 50 pound bucket of mud, then sanding almost all of those 50 pounds to give it the right look..
MORE LIKE 50 KILOS of that "boogah sugah"....dw1.JPGdw2.JPG

Scrape it and do a Knock Down finish. Shoot it with an airless sprayer. Pop Corn guys need to be shot. It just collects dust and cob webs!

How about aside from January, what should we think of you then? :)

touche'

last "winter" was probably the most mild we've experienced in a decade down here in South Florida. It was beautiful, and dare I complain, actually a little too warm for my taste overall. However, all my relatives in Chicago were sending me pic's of the absolutely horrible conditions they were having on our family message app (message me, great little app for small circles of friends or relatives) anyhoo, they'd post pic's of the snow/ice and i'd send back pic's of me on the water tearing it up. I actually went out for rides a couple of times JUST so I could post pic's to them and rub it in. My wife and I would be deciding where to go for dinner and it would always end up being a dockside place where we could post a beautiful pic with boats and birds and sunshine...

I had free tickets to a bears game, looked at the forecast in Chicago and cancelled the trip, sold the tickets because there was no way in hell I was going up there it was like -10 outside with strong winds !!!

LOL I did that..thats what the 5 gallon drum of mud was for...I did a "skip-trowel" pattern... It actually came out GREAT..just wasn't fun AT ALL...
and yes, popcorn "dealers" should be hanged at the Town Centre Square...lol
and yes the 80's did call...and so did the wooden trees...they want their TERMITES back... even after Treatment..
The price you pay when you live ON the gulf of mexico...Unless you've got a cool mil, you're looking at a house that NEEDS work...
Just spent a few thousand on two A/C units (my side and the side I rent out)..

My Partner at work grew up in Florida. She says you are constantly fixing an A/C unit on something! Your car, your house or Business! The decent weather would be nice. Jet Ski season is about done in Ohio. Might go out one more time. Then time to winterize the Ski's!

OMG that looks deadly, and by deadly, I mean I WANNA RIDE.

I still want to stick a 951 in a go-kart.

Most go-karts are what? 5HP? 10HP MAYBE 15?

How's 130 sound? at 7,000 RPM?

I figure I could use a radiator on the engine, but I'd have to fashion something to grab the coolant from the exhaust system and 'recycle' it

cut into the water jacket, weld in a block off plate with a hose connection. for water pump, look to the rotax 125cc karts, they drive the water pump off the axle with an 0-ring.

They are called shifter karts. I wanted one at one point but it's an expensive toy. YouTube shifter kart. Kool videos out there.

Hey Sqrl- have you seen Matt Braley's new carbon fiber toys? I am sure he would be happy to have you down to help wrench on those...He looks like he has the entire winter stacked with projects.

Manolo has Go-PEDS!!!!!!!

AHHH! I had one when I was 13! do you STILL have to adjust the tension onto the thick rubber tire as it wears down? I remember it being like a spring loaded driveshaft that just literally lays/rests on the rubber wheel, which spins the tire

weird... she must have had bad luck... I've been here since 1979, owned a home since 94. I have replaced one AC unit at the house, it was 20 yrs old, and replaced two compressors in my old honda accords in the 90's, so in 20 years of home ownership and 30 years with car's the AC has only come up 3 times total. (although I really worry about my Durango, the dam compressor is under the friggen dash.. apparently its like a $2,000 job...)

I certainly remember having to shovel snow more often than 3 times when I lived in Illinois ! lol It was the Arctic Blast of 77 that moved me down to Florida... (as a teenager I thought it was awesome, my dad disagreed)

Winter??? I'm going out tomorrow morning. The weather was in the 90's today. You need to move down here,
