don't sink

Titleist 3 if anyone cares! It is wedged in impeller I can see it about 6 inches from the rear of the boat [01 utopia] so how do I get this out?

Do I have to take a stroke penalty??!

Wow! I guess I better be more careful around the lakeside golf courses. How deep was the water when you sucked it up?

Is it embedded into an impeller blade or in the spaces between the blades? Can you push it back out the front with a hammer handle or something like that?

If you cannot get it out the way it came in, you will either have to cut it into smaller pieces or more likely take the pump apart and remove it.

I've used these items, but never for a golf ball but usually logs and rocks (Golf ball size) :ack:

Very long pliers, long pliers with duct tape to stick to an object in the bottom, hammer with really long metal chisel but be careful not to hit the prop...

All these are used with a mechanics mirror so you can view the location of any stuck item. I also drive the boat onto ramps so I have more space underneath :hat:

FFFFF OOOOOO RRRRRR EEEEEE.....:ack:

What if you turned the pto clockwise, making ball come back the way if went in.

I just wanna now how it got in there cause they don't float. I for one have tested this at least 3 or 5 times when I play, they sink every time.

maybe he's out this way in O.C., and decided to dump tthe boat , at the Islands Golf Range, which those ones, float...:)

The ball is seriously wedged between the prop. In fact the fins cut into the covering so that made it worse.

Good point about the balls not floating! That just deepens the mystery!

Could this have done any serious damage to the jet? Does the impeller have a shearpin to prevent this type of damage??

no, but the brass gear will shear, inside the RV assy, but dont think it happened.

could've sheared the splines, either in the pto, on the driveshaft, or in the impellor. Need to pull the pump.

Take a cheap range ball and it will float in most cases...

If its wedged it'll be tough to get out, don't take out any of the screws on the bottom to remove the impeller opening gate, this will only increase your problems.

Try to remove it from the impeller and then get it out of opening, a dealer may be handy here b/c your impellar will still probably be fine.

ok- I think I was not clear when I said "impeller" :ack:

When you look down the drive from the stern there is a impeller type device about 6-8 inches deep in the housing. It has 10-12 fins on it with space between them for a lovely golfball to lodge. I do not believe this is the true impeller [is it?] What is this called?

This is not my boat I am use to I/O- does it show??!:stupid:

Impeller only has 3 fins with lots of curve to them. It spins with the engine.

Are you saying it is lodged in that 2nd finned area that has more fins that are more straight with less curve, and do not rotate? Closer to the back of the jet pump? Right before the water comes out the nozzle?

Scooper- you got it! Great description too! And it makes me feel better when you said "they do not rotate" So it might not be a big issue afterall! Or is it?

Thats called a stator.

It redirects the water flow back to strait again.
I would suggest something wooden (broomstick) and drive towards the
front of the boat, same way it came. Make sure the impeller is in such a position the ball will miss the blades. good luck!
