we have 2 "mint" 2005 sea doo rxt's (50-60 hours on each ski). out on the water last week one died (battery issue shop says) and as i went to tow the dead unit ), the other unit died. Shop says boat that tried to tow the dead/battery ski has "total engine failure" common in rxt 2005 supercharged. insurance won't cover "mechanical" issues, and shop wants $4000+ for new motor, etc.,.

Ideas, thoughts? Should i take it 45mins to another authorized dealer/shop or try to fix the battery/clamp (issue) ski and sell this good ski (50hours) along with the junked, though mint (50/60hour) ski for parts?

cannot believe a 2005 supercharged with such low hours blew-out they say. i think it's because i tried to tow the dead (battery) ski with a 250# man on board the ski and then the ski gave out (would act like it wanted to start but not turnover).

thanks in advance.

If you were going slow, I dont really think you would blow an engine just pulling another ski with someone on it. My buddy has pulled a 2 person tube with 400 lbs of people on it with a non spercharged 130 HP ski with no problems. Can they tell you exactly what is wrong with the suppossedly blown engine other than "total engine failure" Something failed, what is it? Could be a supercharger issue.

thanks. remember i was towing the dead ski and the 250# man, fyi.

shop says "cly 1 spark plug won't come out, no coolant in unit, cly has dropped valves, coolant in oil, needs a motor." hmmmm

Ouch... Sorry to hear this... Where are you in Florida. Got just the guy for you if your in NE Florida...
