I am in the process of removing the shaft to replace the carbon seal assembly. The PTO shaft seal is stuck on the shaft not allowing me to remove the shaft. I have sprayed the seal with penetrating oil without success. The carbon seal ring has been removed and carbon seal faces move freely on shaft.
Appreciated any comments.

There is a special tool for this , but if you take a 10 or 12 inch adjustable wrench and loosely tighten it to the shaft against the bearing you can tap the wrench towards the engine and break it loose.

Use a brass punch and lightly tap at the base of the bearing while someone else is pulling on the driveshaft with medium force. It will slide right off.
