stripped screw in carbs

Trying to rebuild carbs and on both carbs, the screw holding in the half circle piece over the main jets is stripped. Is there a way I can flush out the jets without removing that half circle piece? I'm affraid to soak in Carb cleaner because it deteriorates the gaskets.

That has to come off to clean the carbs. Behind that plate is the high speed check valve. If you hit it with carb cleaner... it will get brittle, and crack. Also... you can't get to the main jet with it in the way.

If there is any bit of the screw head left... you can try a hand held impact. I use one to disassemble any carb a touch. If it's completely gone... you will have to drill the head off, and remove the plate. Once it's out of the way, you should be able to grab what's left of the screw with pliers, and twist it out.

You use drill bit as big as screw base to be able to slide it off right?? Any special type of bit? derme or drill??
A machine shop could drill it out and re tap it if rest of it doesn't come out?
I'm in the same situation.

edit: never mind. was pretty easy. You need to appy some force to get past head of screw. But once it pops off its cake.
The remaining studs very lose which was great.
On to the soak can
