Strange 95 Speester Motor Issue..

I have a very strange thing going on with one of my motors on my 95 Speedster. From time to time when I take of from a standing start the Port engine bogs at 4500rpm then in about 5-10 seconds it comes to life and revs up to 7K. It does this randomly. Sometime it revs right up right away. Any Ideas on what to check??

funny my sportster does the same thing! maybe someone here can explain
