The 97SPX waterbox flows better and some guys like the 98SPX wb too. The 95 XP 800 waterbox's are more restrictive then the 96's but both would have baffles come loose inside them sometimes, especially with salt use. When you see one that's been welded back together it's usually for that reason and not because of an attempt to upgrade. Old Yamaha GP waterboxes fit and flow well also. Many racers used to run those.

Limited class must be stock. However looking at both they look the same. Going to look into that more. Thank you.

On Ebay the 2 that are listed say work with spx/xp/ spi..Is there a difference between the model's ?
No those sellers do not know what they are talking about. a X4 787 waterbox must be from a 95-96XP or the 97-99SPX, no exceptions. Others look the same at first glance but the inlet and/or the outlet locations are different. I'd send you a clean 98SPX box for $80 shipped if your in the lower 48 just for reference.
