Last week I made post stating that i could not get the ski to beep with lanyard attatched

i found the fused located in the mpem, found that both the bat fuse and the mpem fuse were blown

replaced the fuses then everything was fine.I got the two beeps and it ever turned over

then the next day went out to ride the ski reattached the battery
then it blew the fuses agiain
please help.

unplug the wire harness at mpem, and clean the pins. check elect. box, for bad connections w/ red cables and your grounds. if all good, matbe, something grounding inside mag housing?

fuses blowing

THANK YOU for your reply on this matter

i have been told by some other people that its the mpem unit
but i cant convince myself of this because the first time i replaced the fuses i got the two beeps like it was communicating witht the mpem

also others have said that there may be metal chavings in the stator causing it to ground out

one more thing the manual showed the 15amp fuse , then 7.5 for the mpem the 5a for the vts, after i took the mpem out of the ski i could see that the lable on the unit itself

called for the 5a fuse to be for the mpem
and the 7.5 for the vts.

would rearranging these fuses by accident cause the 15 amp fuse to blow?

any help woould be greatly appreciated

rearranging them, no, BUT a bad mistake, chief...:ack:

Check all connections for reason of the 15amp, as for 7.5amp, that controls the VTS in which also, a bad VTS will pop a 5amp too, so if happens again, disconnect it, then try. Sounds though you got "short" somewhere. Also, if you get fired up, and able to rev it, test the battery w/voltmeter, and see what read'n are. Should be high 13-to low/mid 14v.

bad battery is probably your culprit. I have been learning alot about the mpems. I actually mapped it out, did you ever jump the ski from your car? or hook the cables backwards? The rectification Spike can damage the tranient suppression diode and usually the 5 amp board fuse will toast. The diode can barley work before it just gives up, which explains why you got beeps and it worked and then overnight it just blew. You can find the diodes on ebay and other places. The diode was originaly used for TV application, the real trick to replacing the diode is to know where to dig in the potting mix. If you need any help pm me
