Does anyone have any stereo setups on their pwc. If I get mine up and running I was thinking of maybe putting in a stereo and some speakers, and wondering if anyone has any setups or mods.

I've seen one with a head unit installed, he put it where the glovebox goes next to his GPS, (this was like 4-5 yrs back), sorry no pic. But if I remember the glovebox was no longer usable at all. My brother has a gps on his glovebox lid and its still usable but only for spare lanyard, keys, and some money, since 70% of the space is taken up by the gps.
These days with the auxiliary input technology most people seem to be opting for the input jack inside the glove and control it with their mp3 player or phone, seems to work just fine and those would be cool, just a water resistant plug somewhere would do the trick, everything else buried underneath except for a speaker or two.
I've been thinking about getting one of those battery operated mini speakers to play some tunes when we take a break but the decent ones were pricey so I never committed. Not sure how much i'd use it since when we do take breaks its generally floating on the water and most of us, myself included, appreciate the sounds of nature,silence and really don't feel the need to have jams going.
One couple on a RXT had tunes playing on a recent river ride I did, and it was just fine, but personally I would have been just fine w/o the tunes playing during the break.

I've thought about mounting a little 200W amp to my GTS, but I wonder if my charging system would be able to handle it. I would probably have to go the route of adding another deep cycle battery to the ski and running solely off that as I do in my Challenger. A small deep cycle runs around $70-150. The small marine amps are cheap, but the speakers can get pricey, depending what quality you want. I was thinking of using bullet-shaped speaker domes, like the ones you see on the wake towers, and attach them to my hood so they blast back at me. The problem is finding an enclosure that's small and light enough to mount to the hood. I would also run this straight off an ipod. Make a good playlist and let her rip. The only thing I'd want is a remote volume knob. Not sure if those mini-amps have that capability...

unfortunately mine is in storage and i can't get at it, but it is a kicker system with jl audio speakers with a amp installed apparently they had to take off the upper deck to install it on the seadoo

I just picked up a Bluetooth rechargeable speaker at Costco on a whim. An Eco Pebble for $37. It floats, is waterproof (obviously) and is reported to last 7 hours on a charge. It synced to my iphone in an instant. Sounds pretty good for what it is. Also, it is small enough to fit in the glove box of the GTX.

Can hear it a little but I did it more for when we are hanging out with it anchored at the beach or cruising at lower speeds. Just cut some holes in the hull and bolted them in. I initially did 4" speakers but blew them out. Went with the 6.5" last year and much better. Only issue is that they take up more room inside the hull and if I ever need to slide the fuel tank forward I will need to take the speakers out for the tank to clear them.
Here are the holes I cut for the stereo and one of the speakers.

I own a stere shop in Oregon and we have had great luck with Wetsounds Bluetooth knob. Minimal intrusion to fiberglass, and no cable connections. JL Audio and Alpine both make a waterproof power pack ( 50wx4) that will easily run off stock charging. Speakers are challenging on PWC. Recomend to find a sealed type enclosed 4 inch, sounds similar to a car 6 inch door speakers. Nice full sound. Enclosed is trick. Imop.

I like the idea of the Eco Pebble speaker, I have another Ecoxgear speaker that is larger and I am pleased with the sound. Cabela's has a handle bar mount and suction mount for the Eco Pebble. The cost for the actual speaker at Cabela's is more though. I am hoping my local costco has one in stock today that I can buy.

if the link doesn't load, they're speaker pods that mount much like a side-view mirror. Put 4" or 5.25" wired to a 200W RMS amp, and I'll be good. I saw some amps come with a wired remote volume control, which would be all I'd need. Just set a playlist and go. :coolgleam:
