First of all THANKS to RFoster130 & Darthspeed for all of there pic's and info

i have doen plenty of systems in trucks cars ect... but this was my frist install in a boat.

i have a 2001 speedster that had a wetsounds "POS" stereo in it that just DID NOT cut it for me. So the first thing i did was upgrade the stereo. i went with a Kenwood KMR-700U marine head unit (no cd just digital media and radio) the front face plate flips down and you can plug in and store your ipod in a hidden carpartment behind it also keeps it safe from the water.
for an amp i went with a rockford fosgate p300-2, and 4 M2M8 rockford speakers. I was going to go with Kicker but ended up with the fosgate stuff the speakers just came out this year and i figured i would give them a try and WOW i am glad i did!
These things are awesome !!!! i was planning on adding a sub later but they put out plenty of low end sound and the highs and mids are right on also i would recomend them to anyone who is looking for speakers. i have a blue top for now and i plan on adding another one with the 1-2-all switch in a few weeks... i mounted the headunit in the faftory location but who ever put in the stereo before me hacked the mounting hole so i had to fab a mounting plate the amp is under the cooler ...

check out my pic's let me know what you think

jason

the old radio had a flip down cover but the new one is completely water proof so i dont need it :)

Mine is in the same place. It just has a basic marine coer that folds up when you need to get to it. I hardly mess with it though. I use the remote most of the time.

dual batts.jpg I just installed dual blue tops & a 1,2,All switch one batt for starting and one for the stereo !

Good job on the install! Looks good! I'm going to be installing a new system in my project speedster soon. Can almost never to be loud at the sand bar right?

installing the dual batteries was one of the easiest things i have ever done ...i would recomend it to anyone!
and yes you can never be to loud....LOL

Very nice man. Where did you end up installing the batts? I have the intention to do it but it seems to be more trouble than it's worth right now. With home renos and 3 kids, not a lot of time.

Looks like he put it right next to the original battery. I wish I had the room of the mercury powered boats. for the twin engines boats under the oil tank is about the only place i could get it to fit.

yep they are in the factory location. I removed the battery tray and glued down some plywood then mounted the trays to that. there is plenty of room if you have the MERC motor . it did not take me long at all about 2 hours start to finish. I hear ya about not having enough time im in the process fo building a new home
