Steering Cable

Something is binding somewhere.

After you install the new cable, is the does the ski steer easily? It should take verry little effort to turn the handlebars.

With the cable off does the steering nozzle turn easily? Is the reverse gate all the way open?

it does take some effort to turn the steerin wheel with the new cable installed. without the cable in, you can flick the steering wheel and it will go all the way to the other side. i believe that it is screwed into a slightly off angle were it goes into the steering block? Also, what do you mean by reverse gate?

Steering

You should be able to turn the handle bars with practically no effort, the steering black should have a little back and forth movement so it can turn with different angles of the handlebars.

Does the cable move freely with the pivot remove from the steering nozzle?

The reverse gate is a thrust reverser, which drops in front of the steering nozzle when the ski is either in neutral or reverse. Not all SeaDoo's have this, I didn't know what year your ski was.

so could it be possible that i had tightened the block to much? my hopes were the new cable was a dud. it is a 1996 i wish i had reverse. as for the movement of the cable, it does go preaty good. there is some "rough" feeling in the steering

I don't think you tightened the block down too much, check to see if the end is properly seated in the block.

i screwed it in as much as i could. i have some threads left on the cable so i can try one more time then i have to buy a new one.

I'm not talking the adjustment screw on the cable I was refering to the 4 screws than hold the block together. The black should fit around the cable and allow movement of the cable inside the block and not tight around the cable.

Set the adjustment about midway and adjust the steering and the connection at the steering nozzle.
