Stator question

What are some symptoms if a stator going bad?

shut-down for no reason. Will restart. OH..I hit a wave and it died!! WTF

What about pulling more volts down when trying to start?

Sometimes it acts like a bad battery and the engine turns over slow, thats the starter.

I have replaced the starter once and it broke after 5 mins of being installed. Was just checking if maybe the stator was pulling more amps/volts which would make the starter work harder to turn over. Maybe it was just a bad starter i bought (hoping). Putting the new starter on tomorrow.
