never again

New Member
Good morning,
i recently bought an sp that has 129 lbs.comp.per cylinder and it did start .the fuel is fresh and oil as well. I dumped it in the lake and started it up. It ran for 1 minute and quit never to start again.
I did replaced the plugs with n4c champions as in the manual, and replaced the starter as it was dragging. I checked for spark and can only assume the engine is getting fuel/oil as when it started at the lake it did smoke a little. My question is , is there something else besides fuel spark and compression that this thing needs to run?. I did not see water in the engine. Thanks for any advise.
P.s. This thing is in great shape for it's age and has been sitting under a cover for about 1 year.
