Hey gang, I just ordered another starter for this summer. I purchased one (high torque seadoo) (so the brand is good quality) in '09 and just went out do to rust from the water. I am gaining water in my starter housing somehow and it rusted the last starter. I just recently bought some marine grease and plan on greasing the bendix so the water will not rust the bendix...again. Does anyone know how water is finding its way to the starter (housing) period? Please let me know. All comments will be taken into consideration. Thank you.

the problem is you are prob not getting all the water out when you replace it...then the same water F's up the next one. Dealers love to not mention another $100 worth of work would take care of it.

The shadetree way is to take the starter out and tilt the ski so the starter hole is the lowest point. let it sit for a day to dry then put the starter in.

The best way to fix it for good is to take the front cover off the motor, clean everything up real nice, then put some RTV on the seal before you put the cover back on. Also RTV the outside edge of the connector piece, and a ring around the starter before it goes in.
