Starter Problems

Starter makes a running sound but I do not hear it click to engage .! I gave it a tap but sounds the same ??? Any one out there with a Idea!!

Yes I just read some of the other Threads and I would say thats it . I hope it is easyer to pull the starter than it looks .

Pull the starter and check it out It sounds like it isn't engaging.

I have a starter engaging the flywheel, but then it seizes up and smokes. It will not turn anymore.Battery shows full charge.

2003 X-20 EFI 240 Mercury. Is this a bad Silinoid or starter?

It could be the starter motor, solenoid sounds fine.
Can the motor be turned by hand? On the rotax motors you can just grab the PTO flywheel with the spark plugs out and turn it by hand, with the mercury you might need to attach a wrench to somewhere, but do it with the plugs out anyways...
