All, changed out original starter (died on memorial day)and solenoid on 1995 sp. Hooked up battery and turned over fine and then hit the starter button again and starter wouldn't disengage. Pulled + battery wire to shut down. So unplugged starter button to rule it out. Touched + cable to battery battery and starter re-enaged.

Before starter issue started seemed like it wasn't getting any spark so pulled plug to see if it was sparking and looks like no spark.

So at lake with 13 year old ready to ride and any and all suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

One of two reasons the starter stays engaged. A stuck closed solenoid and or a Bendix that does not retract for some reason.

Low voltage often will create a stuck solenoid as it arcs on the inside and welds the plate down and in place.

On the older solenoid, the hot side had a small wire that fed the MPEM. Look to see if you didn't put this wire back on. Also, many batteries have a small ground wire at the battery, see if you didn't put that back on.

Coastie Joe, appreciate the advice. Lost internet connection but figured it out. Put the old solenoid back in and worked fine. Had a defective solenoid that was order off amazon.

Thanks again
