Need to switch out the starter. Do I have to remove the whole top end to get at the starter? Does anyone know of any tutorials online of this?

Thanks so much

I'm trying to find the same info you are. I think it is possible to remove starter without pulling engine or taking it apart, according to the shop manual, but I'm not completely sure and looking for more detailed procedure. Dealer told me two hours shop time for change out, so I'm sure you don't take the engine apart or remove it in two hours.

How many hours you guys have in yours ski?

Just curious about the average of hours which starter will last.

85 hours on mine, but I just bought it last week, so don't know its history well at all. I have another with 87 hours and its starter is OK.

I changed mine on my 04 RXP. Little to no room. You have to use imagery. Blind work with good socket set. Use a mirror and flash light to get your bearings. You can try to set up some mirrors and a drop lite. It will take some patience. Remove the oil filler cap if it will give you more clearance for your arm.
