Starter Bolts - 96XP

I'm replacing the starter in my 96 XP that had been sitting in the garage for 4 years in disrepair, and can't remember which bolts go where.

Can someone look at this pic and let me know, do the two bolts with no nut go in the holes circled in yellow and blue, and if so, which hole gets the longer bolt?

And where does the bolt with the nut go, and does the big red wire from the ignition box connect to that? I'm guessing that it goes through the hole circled in yellow, but want to make sure before I get it in and find out that the bolts are in the wrong place. Lol

I'm really hoping to get it running soon, it's been way too long since I've ridden and hope to get her back on the lake.

The red and blue are what bolt to the engine. The yellow is for your battery ground cable.

Thanks!! I see why is seemed weird, the guy that installed my engine grounded it up by the RAVE. Once I read your reply and looked at it again, it all came back to me as to why there is no ground wire on the starter. I think I'll move it back down to the proper place, as it's hanging close to the driveshaft cover now.

I see where the red wire goes now too on the starter.

Long bolt goes in blue. The nut holds a tube clamp for the fuel line.

Got it all up and running. It's running rough, but I think that's bad gas and it needs new plugs.

They neighbor got to hear my SPX run the other day on a hose, after I changed the fuel lines, but was all excited to hear the XP run. He said that it is insane how much sound like a motocross bike. Lol

Just have to run the old gas out, change the fuel filter, and get new plugs, then it should be ready for a test ride on the lake.

It is much safer to siphon the old gas out than running it out. Old gas can clog up the carbs and cause detonation.
