Finishing up the speedster project and went to put the nozzles and reverse buckets on and noticed the rod that connects to the reverse buckets was bent downward. I straightened it out as the boat has been in reverse since I got it. However now and possibly always I notice it shifts forward to neutral with ease, but neutral to reverse has resistance and almost a faint scraping noise under the handle control. How would I disconnect the cable from the back of the boat to see if the bend is completely out of the rod? Are there any adjustments under the actual lever control that would feel like scraping between neutral to reverse and reverse back to neutral? Also with that any suggestions on removing two stripped Allen screws that hold the shift lever down ?

You can drill the head off and you should have enough sticking out to get a pair of vice grips on it to get the rest out (once you get the assembly out).

There is some adjustment down there, but your cable may be stretched out and needs replacement. The shop manual has the adjustment procedure.
