One of the engines on my speedster is extremely cold blooded. When I first hop into the boat, it fires right up, but if I try to give it any gas it will die instantly. The other engine is totally different, it just starts right up and takes off. I have also noticed that when I increase the throttle it will climb up to around 2k rpm, and then start surging after it does that for about ten seconds it will take off and run perfect. It will idle and pull hard clear though the rpm range. If you then shut if off for any length of time longer than about 5 min you have to warm it up all over again. I have also noticed that it is not nearly as smooth as the other engine. I pulled the plugs and the were black, but no more black than the other engine. I am hoping that a new set of plugs would be just what the doctor ordered, however, life has taught me that this is not always the case. :)

you need to go thru the carb/s. the needle stick'n, then releasing after it build up pressure to overcome it. Not bad idea anyway, to pull them and go thru them, even on good motor.
