Speedometer not working

Hey everyone,
I was wondering if anybody might know of some troubleshooting solutions for my speedometer not working on my 98 seadoo challenger.
I have gotten great advice from this forum and just figured someone might be able to get me started rather than taking it to a dealer for $90+ an hour.

Does the paddle-wheel spin freely? First place to look.

It is a pretty simple setup. Only 2 wires, if I remember correctly. So the wheel isn't spinning or the wire's are connected to the computer to register it.
