RESTO Speedometer needle

Does anyone know if you can remove the glass on a 1996 gtx speedometer and paint the needle a contrasting color... like bright orange.
I had my machine out this past weekend and after all the work I put into this machine it runs amazing. I think I hit close to 50 on my dream-o-meter(speedometer) but it’s hard to see accurate speed. That is if it’s even an accurate reading.

You can but it is typically hard to get them resealed. The hard part is getting the metal retaining ring off. I want to say I remember @GGuillot doing one possibly?

I've only taken apart the info gauges, but a speed o gauge should be the same. Do need to get the metal ring off. Set the info gauge to mph when you're out and it should match the speed o gauge, but they are way off to begin with. Pulling the needle off to paint it may cause more issues, maybe touching it with tiny modeling brush would work, but I wouldn't pull it off.
