I see that on this challenger the Spark plug ignition wire is Old school stranded wire core.
What brand and size are good for a direct replacement?

Yep... it's stranded, Si jacket wire. Unless the core is decaying, or the jacket is split... there isn't any reason to replace it. Also... in some coils... it's glued in.

In all my years of playing with these things... I've never actually replaced the wires on any ski.

I'm sure it would be fine with solid (resistor) core wire... but the screw in terminals may damage it, so you will need to put on some crimp terminal ends.

I have changed wires on Yamaha`s with MSD kits that worked superbly.
The ignition wire in this boat looks beat. I`ve already covered the cut areas with Anchor marine adhesive heat shrink. I have no idea how they became so beat up... looks like a squirrel had their way with them...
Figured the coil towers are out and on the shelf, might as well address these over the off season...

any idea on the size or brand for replacement?

I can't even think of a place to buy that kind of wire in bulk. It's probably 6mm wire.

The problem is... everything is resistor core, and pre-made. I remember (back in the day) you would go to the auto parts store, and they had only a few boxes on the shelf. 4, 6, 8 cyl... and 6mm or 7mm. Now... there is an entire isle with a few hundred boxes.

I would email summit, and ask if they have bulk 6mm stranded wire.

Good idea, I guess I should also see if these are glued into the coils first...
Thanks Doc...

Nope there is a special, fragile clip that hold both wires in. At least there is on the skis. You won't be able to fit any wider diameter wire either, it's snug as bug. I don't remember the last time I saw a glued in wire, they've been screw in for so long on ATVs and sleds.
