Spare impeller, a good investment?

Being new to the jet boat world, I am not sure about this. I already had one mishap but I think it is fixable. So I am wondering how often impellers get messed up? It is a good chunk of change for some insurance. How many of you have spare impellers?

My thought on that is... if you find one at a good price, then yes, buy an extra. But, if you are careful, the impeller in your boat could last for it's entire life.

I put a Skat-Trak swirl in my boat, and the 15 year old impeller that came out of my boat was in such good shape... I kept it. But honestly, the Swirl makes such a big difference, if I damage it, I will just buy a new one.

What does the Swirl do so well? I am new to jet boats as well.

Not a hijack at all TJ198 (BTW T.J. is my initials LOL). The more questions that get asked the more I get to learn.

I looked up the Swirls and I cant seam to find an application chart aywhere! I cant find what info I need on my boat either as far as size or anything. No nearby dealer to go bug. VERY FRUSTRATING!

As a personal recommendation, I wouldn't purchase an OEM impeller as a spare, unless as Tony mentioned it was for a killer price.

If you are worried about the impeller and want a secondary one, I'd suggest upgrading the impeller to a better one and save your OEM unit as the spare.

We'll have a performance store online in the coming weeks were you can shop for aftermarket impellers, but until then both the Skat-trac site and rivamotorsports.com have great options for you.

That would be awesome. A one stop shop for Sea-doo performance would be a gold mine I think. I recommend keeping the site simple, direct, and have good descriptions. Friend of mine did it for quads and he made a bundle !
