I knew that Dennis would have a good recipe for a rebuild. I wonder if Chester would do any thing different or add any thing to this recipe as he is also a master like Dennis when it comes to this subject. How many more masters are out there? I can think of a few more that come to mind. Dont hold back share your knowledge with us all. These diferent views points seem to spice things up for me.:hat:
If it were my boat and I was planning to keep it for another 4 or 5 years I would do a complete rebuild. I would install a new HOT ROD"S crank.....buy a set of .020 in. oversize PRO X piston kits....have the cylinders bored and honed so that I had .0055 in. ..piston/cylinder wall clearance....replace the oil injection pump or go to premix. This is the 787 rebuild recipe that I have used for alot of years and have enjoyed alot of success with it.

Crankshaft

A crankshaft can be measured and visually inspected in order to determine its condition. What is hard to determine is the condition of the 12+ year old inner crank seals. Many a person has rebuilt the top end and reinstalled the original crank only to find themselves having to clear the oil out of the engine after it has sat for a week or two in order to get it running. The weak crank seals allow oil from the rotary shaft chamber to drip into the lower case.
