Howdy, I have been around jet boats all my life, ( Check out my album). But this is my first SeaDoo. I'm very impressed, especially after skiing behind it this past weekend. I hadn't skied in over 20 years. It pulled me up with no problem at all. On doubles,, I broke the boot on my single but can't wait to try it next.

observer

is there any addition to the rear seat handle for the observer to hang on to while sitting backwards?

That thing will pull you up just fine on a surfboard or wake board. And if you aren't 200 lbs, you might be able to get up on a slalom.

When you go way out and crank back on a slalom, your driver and spotter better be ready, because you will likely yank the rear end completely out of the water and toward you.

I guess you better be ready, too.

Let us know how the slalom works.

i weigh about 190 and i was able to slalom behind my 95 spi. it was not easy to get up, thats for sure it took me three tries, and it was a real drag. the driver has to plane it out as quickly as possible hit it at full throttle then back down once it planes out and the skier gets up. im actually really surprised i was able to do it and i dont know if i could do it again i sure was sore lol

I have got up slalom behind my 95 kawasaki 750ss less than 75hp but with only one rider but no problem.

This past summer I was able to get a few friends up behind my 95 GTX. One on a wake board & a wake ski, and another on a Slalom. I did not have a spotter on so it may have helped in getting up and out of the water. And it is true that when the rider cuts the back of the machine really gets pulled hard. It would really be hard for a Spotter to hang on.

yeah i dont have a spotter either, and that machine does get yanked around quite a bit. even without a spotter its pretty easy to tell when the skiier falls because you start hauling ass immediatly lol. just be careful not to get caught without a spotter by the 5-0 if youre on a public lake

re

Thanks for all the input. I hope to get to try it before winter sets in. Although I do have a wet suit. I have skied behind a truck, in the All American Canal in Southern Cal. When I'd cut hard I could pull the back of the truck to the side. So we hooked the tow rope to the roll bar. Was a trick for the driver on the thin chanal road.
I'm working on some sort of slip in handle of the spotter to hold on to.

Be careful with skiing in a wetsuit. Be sure you have some very tight arms and leg openings or you may get water pulled into them and they can balloon up doubling your weight pretty quickly.

Did this behind a boat in cold water in the Galveston Intracoastal Waterway. Wearing spring suit at the time. Got about half-way up on slalom ski, and the legs and butt started to fill up, and I never got quite out of the water. My butt had about 20 gallons of water in it (the suit, not actually my "butt") and when I finally let go, it ripped a bunch of my fingernails out.

I wasn't going to go down easily.

I have since seen that skiing wetsuits often have an extra strap where you can cinch down around the openings. See the leg cinches in the pic below.

I got pulled over by the cops here in Fl for not having a spotter and they wanted to check my mirrors. They gave me a warning but said I just needed "fish eye" mirrors. I guess those are the round stick on mirrors for your car or truck. They even make them so they adjust now.

oh wow thats cool i didnt know that i could have a fish eye mirror and be straight. maybe ill look into getting a couple...
