O.K.:

Anyone know an easy way to set the idle on this boat? I have never seen an idle adjust screw so difficult to get at. I set mine today on a hose with the air box off and had a good flashlight to get the screwdriver on. Unfortunately I set it 2,200 RPM out of water when it should have been 3,000. I would actually rather set this while in the water, but geez this doesnt look too simple or eazy.

Anyone have any tricks of the trade?

Simple...

You actually answered your own question. When I rebuile my carbs on my Challenger, I do not go by the adjustments on land, since I don't run it on land. I take it to the water.

Leave the air box off, with the flame arrestor on for proper adjustment. Don't ride in hard surf like that unless you at least put on the metal retainer plate with 3 bolts minimum..........

I usually only do this for tuning. I leave that center piece of fiberglass, that seperates the engine compartment from the carrier compartment, that way, I can flip open the engine hatch and just jump right in.

Oh, BTW, I don't have to use a screwdriver. It has a small piece of metal that goes through it, called a thumbscrew. I can stick my hand under it and just adjust it while squatting over the motor. It takes about 10 seconds, once out there.
