i have a 2000 speedster and i just took it out of storage today bought a new battery and took it to the lake droped it in the water and started it up and it ran. but after 2 min. of running it stoped and would not restart. took the engine cover off to take a look and i have half a tank of fuel full of oil, one thing i did see is that the starter looked like it was stuck up to the flywheel i guess, is it suspose to do that and shoot down after the engine runs? than i check for fuel at sherader vale on engine and very liitle came out. the pump turns on when key is turned on. and it squirts out of it but no solid steem? any idea would be great on where to start? ps its a v6 engine

you have one of the Merc engines. There is a forum for them.

There is a lot to check before anything can be figured out. At min... we need:

1) Compression
2) Fuel pressure
3) Spark
4) any service codes?

i will have to get some tools from work for the compression and fuel pressure, how do i pull service codes?

Your Merc actually has 3 pumps, but there is a schrader valve on the high pressure side.

No fire... but do you have compression? Did you physically look for spark?
