Seadoo wont plane while towing

I just got a used seadoo, and tried to tow and it wouldn't plane out, and smoke starting coming out the back. I replaced the wear ring (it was destroyed) and while it's better it still can't plane out when trying to pull a tube. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

From the limited info provided the only thing I can suggest is to make sure your tube is fully inflated. My ski has no issues pulling two tubes with 4 riders.

I am a bit concerned that you are not creating enough speed and power to pull a tube and plane out. But I assume your ski planes out without pulling a tube. are You comfortable with your skis power output in general (acceleration, top speed, etc. and with 3 riders?). I would probably make sure I had good spark plugs and if still not pulling a tube well, check engine compression to try and rule out an engine that is not producing full power.

Is the "smoke" just water vapor (steam) from your nose-up trim?
