Seadoo starts beeping after startup

Hi Everyone:

Just got my 1998 Challenger 1800 into the water yesterday - I recently aquired this boat so I'm unsure of its history.

Both engines fire and run however - about 30 seconds after the engines start and are running I get a beeping sounds. It is not continuous - it is beep pause, beep pause, etc (about 1 sec on / 1 sec off). It continues until you shut the both engines off and then comes again when you start them up.

Some interesting notes:

i. It does the same thing when running on the hose or in the water
ii. It does the same thing on right, left or both engines running

I've verified they are not overheating - any ideas what this beep means?? Any place i can find this? I'm not able to

letting you know, you aint got enough gas. Hit the bottom right side switch, when beeping starts, see if it goes away.

Thanks for your reply - will a broken fuel gauge cause this behaviour as the fuel tank is full but gauge reads empty.

What is the bottom right switch - the fuel tank reserve switch?

yup, to switch, but its from the same "draw", just let'n you know, its low. But a bad sending unit/float will trigger it too.

Do you knwo what exactly the reserve switch does on these boats? Can you run it always on reserve to get rid of the beeping noise?

Once it beeps, hit button, and it wont come back, til you kill the boat(turn ur off). There is no "reserve" tank/tube, its a warning, say'n...quit partying and fill me up.

Will a bad sending unit/float trigger this intermittent beeper on my 98 GSX also? Maybe I'm partying to quietly and thats why I hear the horn :cheers:
