Seadoo HX general info

Hey guys,

First of all i should mention i have no previous experience with watercraft.. Last year i was given a 95 or 96 seadoo hx from my boss (it was an insrance write off from a customer of his 6 or 7 years ago). It was driven over by a tractor (twice) but most of that was cosmetic damage. Last winter i cleaned the 6 mouse nests out of it... basically i gutted the machine minus the pump cleaned everything up, pulled the motor apart minus the bottom end, kind of frankenstiened the upper body back together and had a good running machine for the summer. The lower hull actually stud up to the tractor quite well.. no damage on the bottom side. Basically the way it stands i cant register the machine, but lucky for me my dad lives on a huge creek that runs into a huge lake so for the most part i can play without worry.

Anyways, this year i pulled the pump apart to find a very messy wear ring and the impellor is half destroyed. The handfull of times i road the thing last summer i knew it had to be off a bit cause i could only get 35 mph out of it and it was hard to get up on plain. So ive got the impellor removal tool coming as well as a new wear ring. At this point im not sure what to do for the impellor. If i can get it repaired for under 100 bucks i think ill go that route if not ill be looking at a solas or skat trak i think. Ive seem some solas for about 220 bucks on ebay. Overall i think that will be a huge upgrade to what i played with last summer.

Another thing, im building a custom intake grate comparable to what ive seen aftermarket. It wont be exact to the degree but basically will cost me next to nothing and may be better then the stock.

I guess the main reason for this thread is, is there anyone out there with knowledge on this machine that could be helpful to me? I race stock cars, and play with snowmobiles in the winter, so this machine is totally new to me. I had a blast with it last year even with the poor pump condition. I cant wait till the spring thaw and i can get it out again. Oh and this year i double checked... 148 psi per cylinder so seems i still have pretty good compression.

Thanks in advance for any input.

Luke
