Hey all,
Okay, so we bought this '01 SeaDoo GS almost 2 months ago now, shortly after we bought it, we put a new top end on it because the compression was low in the PTO cylinder. After we did the top end, we found out that the connecting rod in the PTO cylinder was bent and thus the cause of the problem.
So I sent the motor out and had a new crankshaft installed, I sent them the whole motor, they installed a new crankshaft and put the motor back together, so when I got it back it was ready to drop in.
I got the motor back yesterday, got it installed last night and took it to the lake to try and break it in today...
When I got to the lake, I started it up while still on the trailer but in the water, let it idle for about 10-15 minutes to warm up all the new parts, I then took it off the trailer and out to ride, every time I tried to give it gas it would bog and try to die, If I featherd the throttle, I could get it to rev but would only go about 20 feet before it would cut out, if I left off the throttle as soon as I felt it loose power it would drop back down to idle and idle fine, if I kept my thumb on the throttle or tried to feather it, it would just die.
I have 1qt of oil in the fuel tank Pre-mix as per the factory operators manual for breakin in a new engine. My oil lines are full of oil, I did try rotating the oil pump valve while it was running, but I did not see any big cloud of smoke, I didn't hear the engine load up with oil or try to die, it just kept runing at idle.. There of course is smoke coming out because of the pre-mix..
So I don't know if that has anything to do with it?
The carb was just rebuilt by a dealer, and I replaced all the fuel lines with 1/4" Marine rubber fuel lines.
When I reconnected the cable from the carb to the oil pump, I rotated the valve on the oil pump around 1 full rotation to put tension on the return spring, then connected the cable. I verified that the notches line up on the oil pump..
I think I've captured everything that I have done..
Thanks in advance for the help..
