Your wear ring is seriously damaged. Also, the impeller needs to be repaired. Post a picture of the back of the impeller.

The impeller is not too bad. You just have to dress it up. The leading and trailing edges should be sharp.

Chester

i don't have much experience with these sea doos as you can tell, the leading edge should be fine like a knife edge and the trailing edge and side edges should be square??
would you recommend a file or honing stone or something else??

just to clarify my shaft ;for the boat that is..
17" inches long with 18 splines each end splines are approximately 3/4".
looking from the pto end it goes 3/4" splines 1" shaft 2" bearing surface 11 3/4" shaft then 3/4" splines. i didn't include the measurement for the curved shoulders on and off the splines etc.allow approximately 1/4" transition.
reson for the measurement is as iwas cross referenccing i was getting 2 different part # 272000020 and from the dealer 272000065.what's up with this? are they the same part?

Neutral Safety Switch...

Just to clarify on the whole neutral thing, this boat has a reverse grate... when you pull the lever, all it does is re-direct the water downward (for neutral), or back forward (for reverse) pushing the boat backwards...very slowly...

Joe

P.S. I am also having the same problem as Rick with my boat. (same boat) what are the details about the drive shaft,? so i don't bend mine while taking it out. I found alot of sand in the water jackets when I rebuilt it over the winter... I am thinking that this may have tore up my wear ring.

There is no neutral safety switch on an Explorer.
