I have a 2000 XP, it's been dead for awhile, but I prime the carb and got it to fire up again, but it sounded like the engine was going to run away, very high idle. Does any one have a picture of the carb showing where the idle adjustment is? Or if someone could explain where it is? Thanks

Click on the link to parts diagram. You are looking for #33. Take the airbox off and you should be able to see where it will be - under the carb. Prob can do it without taking the box off.

Also, it will idle at 3000 out of the water and the pump will rattle so they may explain the 'run away'.

HOWEVER - a true runaway could be a leaned out carb which could lead to more expensive problems if not identified and fixed.
If it truly runs away and will not turn off even with the lanyard pulled or stop button pushed, Pull the Choke out to kill it.

good luck

the idle screw, is staring you, right in the face, off the front (mag) carb. Looks like a "T" handle adjustment.

Just a little heads up!!!
After you adjust the idle down, start it up. If the engine starts to run away with itself pull the choke...that is the only way it will shut off.
That typically means that you have an air leak some where, more that likely at the base of the carbs.
