I have two GTXs with about 100 hours on each. I noticed the other day while driving in a straight line there was play in the handle bars. I could move them about 2 to 3 inches from side to side not impacting the handling of the ski. How do I tighten up this play in the steering column. Thanks

There is adjustments and anchors on both the nozzle end and the handle bar end.

I would guess the housing is moving. Check the connections of the cables on both ends and to see if the steering cable housing is anchored.

Thank you for responding. I went to the back of the ski and there was no play with the cable at the nozel end. I also moved the nozel back and forth and the handlebars moved in sync with no play. I also moved the handle bars from side to side and the nozel moved in sync. However when I'm in water there is at least 2 to 3 inches from side to side on the bars before I can start a turn. I almost think it's in the column of the bars. The ski tracks straight while in motion and the bars straight. Could the cable be stretched? What do you mean by is the steering cable anchored? Do you just mean attached?

The outer sleeve must be attached (anchored) in order for the steering to work as it should. I believe there is a nut where it exits the rear hull. This nut breaks and strips. When it does. The ski takes on water and the steering can be affected. Check both the front and rear mounting of the cable housing.

Hello, I did check the outer sleeves and they're both attached front and back and not cracked or loose I did notice in the front of the ski there was a barrel adjuster should I tighten that or do something else thank you

I actually decides to unhook the steering cable and wanted to see if there was any play in the steering g column. So I held on to the steering cable mounting assembly and grabbed the handle bars and moved them back amd forth to see if there was any play. There was not any play at all.

I ho honestly don't know how else to explain it. It is not tight steering and steers fine but there is slop while in motion going straight. I can move the bars 2 to 3 inches and it does not drive the ski left or right. I did check the outer sleeves and they're both attached front and back and not cracked or loose. My other GTX same year does not do this. Could there be cable stretch or something else?

It is twisting the handlebars left and right like steering.

It is twisting the handlebars left and right like if you were steering. Thanks Phil

Even if the cable was stretched, I think the steering would move the nozzle. And if it was stretched, the nozzle would be off to one side or the other. I have to think you have a loose connection somewhere.

Ok. I'll go through the ski again and try following the cable from front to back. I will also check the anchor spots for movement. Thanks for your patience.
