Hi.. All

I am new to this forum more over to the jetski community

and ...... I have a new question..

Do you recommend that I go for premix??? 50:1

The oil pump is still in place with all the lines connected but I am afraid that this will not work properly as is quite old now.. But not 100% sure what to do

Is there a way that I can check this…. I was thinking of removing the oil pipe that goes in the pump… and plug it with a screw then I fill my oil tank half full to keep the RD lubricated

Can someone confirm this is the correct way or should I keep my oil injection system on??

It's up to you, if you want to go pre-mix or not... but at least you know that you have to keep the oil tank for the RV.

Personally, I say to keep it. The pump is very reliable, if it's being fed the proper oil. Normally, on a seadoo, when someone says their oil injection failed... in reality, either the filter was plugged up, or a hose broke. That's not really a failure... that's lack of maintenance.

You can test the pump by removing it from the manifold, and spin it with a drill... then catch the oil that comes out. (The test is outlined in the manual)

Also... I would recommend replacing the hoses (if they are old), make sure the little nipples in the manifold are clear (They can plug up) and change the filter in the main hose... and not worry about it.

So...

I have decided that I will use the oil injector system...

Now what I need to do is remove the old oil form the pump and the reservoir and change the oil filter (this looks like a normal fuel filter is it the same?) and clean all the pipes including the small injector pipes that go inside the manifold.

I will put 3 ltrs of new oil and check the pump…

The manual stated that I need to bleed of this pump via the bleed off screw… is this needed 100% as I can’t even see the pump moreover work on it mounted inside and below the Carb..

Any help is much appreciated.

Good. Once cleaned, and checked... it makes owning a ski easier.

You don't have to remove the oil, if it's the right kind of oil. SeaDoo requires an API-TC oil. (not TC-w3 outboard oil) If you don't know what it is... then drain, and replace it.

The filter is similar to a fuel filter... but they flow a little better. You can buy them at your local dealer. Full retail is about $12... but if you have a nice dealer, they should be around $9.

YES !!!! if you don't bleed the system... you could burn up your engine. It's not that hard to do, and you don't have to remove the screw completely. Just turn it out, and the oil will slowly fill the hose. Once it's down at the pump... start the engine, and while at idle, hold the pump arm to the "Open" position and you will see the oil fill the small hoses between the pump, and the manifold. Once that's done... go ride, easy for a few minutes to make sure the system is working.

with that said... I recommend adding 1 oz of oil, per gallon of fuel in the tank after any oil pump service is done. A little extra oil will keep you engine happy, if there is still an air bubble in the system.

use a mirror...it isnt too tough. It would also be a good time to replace those little injection lines with fresh line. They get brittle and crack. Then hold the pump wide open at idle and it will fill those lines fast.

Hi..
I have managed to bleed off the oil pump.... not that hard with a mirror ;)

However I have noticed that when I went for a ride (I mixed a little 2 stroke oil just for pace of mind with the petrol) I noticed that the oil filter has again an air bubble in it... maybe this is because I did not bleed of completely I am suspecting that is because I only had a 1ltr of oil in the tank reason is that I did not want to put 50USD worth of oil and then I will notice that’s it’s not working …
I also started the engine and when at idle I pulled on the oil lever and noticed a small change in engine RPM.. so I think is working and also the small injector lines are full of oil so no air bubbles inside only in the filter… I will try to re bleed and add more oil

Take the top off the oil tank and shake that filter...the bubble should escape and go up into the tank.

Your ski will smoke allot. I did it reciently with my sp 580 built 1 over and the pump went out. I just reciently put a replacement pump from another ski to fi the problem
