Just replaced wear ring on the jet pump, I noticed this gap ~1/8 to 3/16 between the boot and the shoulder on the driveshaft. Is this normal?

I haven't greased the PTO splines yet. I was worried the rubber bumper fell off while I was installing the pump and got wedged sideways at the end of the pump splines.

I can't compare to my other side because it still has the driveshaft protector tube on.

That gap should not be there.

The bigger question is why does it look like there is a big shoulder where the pump goes to the hull?

The transition from the white fiberglass pump tunnel should be nice an smooth into the pump with no gaps, edges or misalignment.
