Need some help on what I need to do before and after I go out in saltwater. If ya like go into detail since im a newbie at boating. I did read somebody's post on here that after they pulled out of the saltwater they put their boat in freshwater to flush everything out. I'm in luck I live right buy a lake so ill be doing that on top of what you recommend. THANKS!!!!

if thats the case, then only thing i think of, is b4 launch'n in salt, spray EVERYTHING inside engine bay, and jet/s assy with silicone spray...CRC Silicone Spray, at Wal-Mart..$1.50 a can.

People overstate the risk of salt water way too much. I ran my boat in salt water for 50 hours this summer. The only thing I noticed that really got on my nerves was some rust on the fasteners for the ski tow eye which caused some rust water drainage on to the rear of the boat. Just soap and water your boat whenever you get it out in addition to flushing it.

I also live in Richmond near Mason in Katy. What lake are you referring to? I can answer any questions you may have about Clear Lake since we used to keep our boat there.

With our boat we always washed, flushed, and rinsed and have never had any problems.

I live in Kingwood now so I'm right next to Lake Houston. I have a steal trailer so I am going to run it by the lake to flush the boat and trailer with fresh water witch was recommended by another fellow seadoo owner.

This might sound like a stupid question but why do ya spray silicone on everything what does it do? Do i do this after I flush everything out? Just spray it all over the engine and thats it? Thanks

I think he's referring to corrosion protection . But I know on my Utopia, everything is stainless or already coated with silicone.

Silicone spray will coat and protect everything from corrosion with protective coating that won't evaporate quickly.

Use a product like salt away and wash everything. Flood the bilge with some too. Use it on trailer springs etc too. It really works to remove all salt residue.

Dont forget to check your wheel bearings after and trailer lights.

Thanks everybody!!! One more question...is it ok to spray water with the water hose on the engine once its cooled down? Wash with water hose then with Silicone spray right? Dang am I a rookie :cheers:

b4 launch'n, is when I coat everything w/ silicone spray, then afterward, I use the "mist" setting on nozzle, to hit the motors, but blast everything else.
