Going to be moving to miami in couple of weeks. my speedster only been used in fresh water lakes until now. Its rust free. what should I do to keep from rusting up. I will be flushing with salt away. And I sprayed down the engine with T-9 boeshield. think of a filter kit for the intercooler. Anything else I should do.

Just spray down the jet pump good with fresh water after you flush the exhaust system. I use a spray can of silicon and wd-40 to coat the jet pump and misc items to protect it from corrosion.
The inter looping cooling system is great for keeping the internals salt free, and from corrosion.

As said above do that! and Keep your engine lubed correctly . I usually spray it down with CRC Lubricant to protect it from the elements. Other than that, rinse taht out well and use alot of fresh water! Enjoy and welcome to Miami.

i hose it all down all compartments etc let dry and lube all hinges etc ski lock up i left some poles under my ski hold didnt rinse came back 1 week later they was all rusted out and trash they were all brand new used once. :stupid:

It is best to rinse it with fresh water and than spray everything down with wd-40 and silicone spray to displace water and coat everything to protect it from corrosion. Inside the hull and the full jet pump.

Every couple of trips i spray my powerhead with CRC Lubricant. It Displaces the water and keeps the powerhead lubed//protected. It is safe on all rubber components and protects from the elements. Better to be lubricated then exposed to the elements of salt water.

I bought a wd-40 still looking for a silicone spray, I couldn't find a CRC lubricant, but like Karl said, should I spray the whole engine with water? Should I do this with the engine running or off?

Same here. Rinse with water then start it up and flush engines by the time i am done flushing the engines are dry. The spray WD40 all over. After that, i put it inside the garage and with the engine bay open and let it dry. It usually takes a few days for it to dry completely.

Walmarts sells silicone spray for cheap. All silicone spray is the same except for the label and the price. Cheaper is better. I rinse everything down with fresh water, then spray the heck out of it with wd-40 and then silicone spray. Just be careful not to use high pressure to have the water penetrate the electrical or the carb intakes. Yes, leave the lid open to allow it to dry and vent. I leave the drain plug out too so it won't fill with water if a freak rain storm catches me by surprise.

I agree with most of what's already been said. There's a lanolin based spray alternative to CRC called Lanox. It won't affect any synthetic parts or cable insulation that I'm told WD-40 might. The lanolin based sprays are inert and will actually creep up into the electrical connectors in a capillary action when the engine's warmed up. In addition it has all the water repellant features and rust inhibiting features you want - sticks like s*it to a blanket. I just spray it liberally around the engine bay after flushing and washing down with fresh water. Then I park the boat in my garage overnight with the seats off and the bungs out to let it dry.

Ok to spray motor?

So it is ok to hose of the motor? I know on my car I would never do that but I am sure the boat motor is better equiped to handle it.

Yeah it's OK to wash down the motor. Don't do it if the motor's hot unless the motors running. Then its fine. If its cold, just go ahead and wash it down. In both cases, follow up with a lanolin based spray to displace the water and protect against rust. Leave the seats off (overnight if you can) to let it dry out.

@usctrojan: actually most cars, especially american models, you could hose down the engine; most jeeps are built for that; JEEP models, land cruisers, mitsubishi models, etc. All you have to do is rise the motor with the engine ON, if you sense the engine weird in any moment, stop rinsing wait a while then continue.

yeah i wash out the motor in most of my cars also. i spray some gunk, hose it, then spray the same crc all over then drive it aorudn to dry it off!. hate dirty engines
